After the Puzzle
When a student names a real example, check it on a map rather than judging whether the word sounds geographic. A DESERT is defined by low precipitation, not simply by heat; a MOUNTAIN is not a COUNTRY. If a student calls the EQUATOR a border between countries, ask what the line actually marks. LATITUDE describes position north or south of the equator; LONGITUDE describes position east or west of a reference meridian.
