After the Puzzle
In review, ask which words describe today's observation, which name tools or measurements, and which describe events or broader patterns. A FORECAST is a prediction for upcoming conditions, whereas CLIMATE describes patterns over a much longer period. If a student writes 'low pressure means a CYCLONE tomorrow,' ask what other evidence is needed and rephrase the statement as a possibility rather than a certainty. LIGHTNING can produce THUNDER; their timing can be compared without treating them as the same event. The strongest response uses the terms to explain a limited claim and acknowledges what cannot be concluded from the worksheet alone.
Use a sample report stating today's TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, and a short FORECAST. Students underline measurements once and predictions twice, then add BAROMETER beside PRESSURE as an example of how one measurement can be obtained. Ask whether the report alone proves a change in CLIMATE; it does not. A CLOUD can appear without a CYCLONE, and a FRONT may bring changing conditions without guaranteeing LIGHTNING.
